Services were held last Saturday in Oxford Junciton for Wyoming residents Cecil and Martha "Peggy" Lambert, who were killed in a two-car crash on Wednesday evening, Feb. 7.

The accident occurred about 6:50 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 136 and county road Y-24, three miles east of Oxford Junction, according to a state highway patrol report.

The Lambert car, driven by Cecil, was eastbound on 136 when a car driven by Breant Marburger, Sabula, failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection, and collided with the Lambert auto.

Marburer, 24, has been charged with failure to yield and driving while intoxicated, authorities said.

The Wyoming couple was pronounced dead on arrival at Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa. Marburger suffered head and stomach injuries and was treated at the hospital.

Also treated were passengers in the Marburger auto, his stepson, Matthew Otto, 2, David Gruhn, 30, and his father, Russell Marburger, all of Sabula.

All had been released by Tuesday.

Assisting the Iowa Highway Patrol in the investigation were the Oxford Junction police, Clinton and Jones County deputies.

Father R. J. Sigwarth officiated at the services held at 10:30 a.m. last Saturday at Oxford Junction's Sacred Heart Church. A rosary was said Friday evening at 8 p.m. at Hayden's Funeral Home in Wyoming. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Vernon Eganhouse, Marv Null, John H. Petersen, Robert Fishwild, Donald Carstensen, Donald Cox, Curt McKinstry, Dale Petersen, Herb Kinion, Merton Eganhouse, Adra Lane and Art Ahrendsen.

Cecil Lambert, 62, was born July 6, 1916, at Bellevue, the son of Harvey and Mildred Roe Lambert. Cecil graduated from Maquoketa High in 1933. He served during World War II. ON Dec. 31, 1934, he married Mary Mohr at Maquoketa.

Peggy Lambert, 50, was born Aug. 17, 1928, at Lost Nation, the daughter of Lee and Viola Newcomb Ales. She graduated from Lost Nation High and on June 4, 1947, she married Joe Mohr at Lost Nation.

Cecil and Peggy were married on Jan. 26, 1961, at Davenport. They moved to Wyoming after that where Cecil had been a barber. Peggy had worked the last eight years at J. C. Penney Co. in Maquoketa.

They are survived by one son, Jerry Lambert, Davenport; three daughters, Susan (Mrs. Jim) Jones, Northglenn, CO., Judy (Mrs. Jim) Antons, Cedar Rapids, and Barbara (Mrs. Steven) Holden, Davenport; eight grandchildren; Cecil's mother, Mildred Lambert, Maquoketa; his brother, William Lambert, Grand Mound; a sister, Rose Marie Lambert Current, Maquoketa; Peggy's brother, James, Burnsville, MN: and two sisters, Margaret Ales, Amana and Mrs. Pat Thines, Preston.

Cecil was preceded in death by his father, wife and one sister.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
