MARTELLE--Funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 2, at Martelle Methodist church for Alexander Mitchel, 81, farmer, who died Wednesday, Jan. 31 at Martelle from a cerebral hemorrhage. Rev. M. T. Baskerville and Rev. W. C. Coverdale were in charge of the rites. Burial was made at Red Oak cemetery near Tipton. Beam & Miller Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Gerald Darsee, Leonard Gordon, Willard Ellison, Howard Dragoo, VIrgil Miller and William Fischer.

Mr. Mitchel was born the son of Moses and Elizabeth Mitchel in Canada on May 31, 1858. When still a child, he moved with his parents to a farm near Fairfax where he grew to manhood.

On Feb. 4, 1885, he was married to Barbara Laing, Cedar county, and settled on a farm near Fairfax, Five children were born to the couple. Mrs. Mitchel died Aug. 1, 1933.

Survivors are three sons, William, Coleridge, Nebr.; Moses and Allen, both of Martelle; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Peters, Bruno, Minn.; and Mrs. Geneva Minton, Hazelton; two brothers, William and John, both of Martelle; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
