FOREST--Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Edward Bates, 56, who died Wednesday at her home, located six miles south of Anamosa on the Morley road.

Rites will be held at Forest chapel with Rev. Harold Knight, Morley, in charge. Burial will be made at Highland Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Bates was born Leda Miller, daughter of Frank and Emma Miller on Oct. 5, 1884. Family moved to Estherville shortly thereafter, where Mrs. Miller attended school and grew to womanhood.

On Jan. 24, 1911, she was married to Edward Bates and moved with him to their present home.

Survivors are the husband, one daughter, Mrs. Fred Joslin, Anamosa; one sister, Mrs. Walter Bishop, Moline, Ill.; two brothers, Montie G. and Cleve Miller, Estherville; and three grandchildren.
