The funeral for Grace Soper, 82, was held Jan. 20 at Wayne Zion church, with the Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson officiating.

Soper died Jan. 18, 1979, at the Anamosa Care Center after a lingering illness. Burial was in the Wayne cemetery.

The daughter of Gearhard and Tobiason Bohlken was born April 13, 1896, near Scotch Grove. She attended rural Scotch Grove schools.

On Feb. 8, 1922, she married Howard Soper. The couple farmed in Wayne and Jackson township. Her husband preceded her in death in 1972.

She is survived by two daughters, Luella (Mrs. Richard) Eichhorn, Wyoming, and Genevieve (Mrs. August) Monk, Jr., Anamosa; two sons, LaVern Soper, Fulton, IL and Glen Soper, Olin; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Minnie (Mrs. Henry) Harms, Scotch Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two grandsons, three sisters and three brothers.
