Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 187, for Mike Vacek, 64, who died last Monday morning at his home in Oxford Junction.

The Rev. Ramon Booth, Cedar Rapids, officiated at the 1:30 p.m. services at Hayden's Funeral Home. Vocalists were Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen and Mrs. Otto Koranda, with Mrs. Lewis Hayden serving as organist.

Pallbearers were Larry Marek, Don VonMuenster, Don Benhart, Rick Koranda, James Balichek and Richard Ahrendsen. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery.

Vacek was born Feb. 24, 1914, near Oxford Junction, the son of Albert and Rose Kotlinek Vacek. On April 25, 1936, he married Gertrude Schroeder in Davenport.

The two farmed south of Oxford Junction all of their married life.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Rose Vacek, Oxford Junction; two sons, Michael, Oxford Junction and Kenneth, Clarence; two grandchildren; and three brothers, Albert and Louis, Oxford Junction and Lumir, Savanna, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father.
