11 January 1940 - The Anamosa Journal

ONSLOW--Michael English, 70, died at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, Sunday following a brief illness. Mr. English suffered a stroke earlier in the week and pneumonia set in. Funeral service was held at St. Peter's church Temple Hill, Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock.

ONSLOW--Funeral service was held Tuesday at St. Peter's church at Temple Hill for Michel D. English, Onslow farmer, who died Sunday, Jan. 7, at Mercy hospital in Anamosa. Rev. E. P. Lorenz was in charge of the rites.

Casket bearers William, Leo, Clarence and Raymond Kinsella, and Michael and Thomas Leonard, Francis Lambe and Raymond English.

Mr. English, who was a member of a pioneer Jones county family, lived in the county all of his life. He was born the son of Patrick and Bridget English at Onslow on March 27, 1873. Mr. English never married.

Survivors are one brother, Thomas English; and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Leonard, Temple Hill; Mrs. Mike Kinsella, Bernard; and Mrs. Dan Lambe, Bernard. A brother, John, and a sister, Mary, preceded him in death.
