John Beardsley, 31, Cedar Rapids, former resident of Anamosa, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon Dec. 28, following a heart attack. He had been hunting.

Funeral services are pending.

He attended the Anamosa public schools. He was a member of the Cedar Rapids police force at the time of his death.

Beardsley was a star athlete at Anamosa high school where he won letters in football, basketball and track, playing on several outstanding Raider teams. He also played with one of the top Army basketball teams while serving in Germany.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Betsy, Debbie, Howard and Barry John; his mother, Mrs. Elsie Beardsley, Anamosa.

Other survivors include three brothers, Ralph Beardsley and George Beardsley, both of Anamosa; Bob Beardsley, Cedar Rapids; one sister, Audrey, Mrs. Charles Arthur, Cedar Rapids.
