December 15, 1960 - The Anamosa Eureka

Mrs. Beulah Grace Nickels, 81, Anamosa, died Monday night, Dec. 12, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, where she had been a patient the last 12 days.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home. Rev. Lee Hobel, of the Baptist church, officiated at the service. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

Pallbearers included Neil Norton, Clarence Barker, Allen Rushford, Norman Robert, Thomas Stimpson and Ted Hurt.

She was born Feb. 1, 1879, daughter of Charles and Maeltha Anne Metts Oliver, Upper Sandusky, Ohio. She was married to Frank S. Nickels in 1904 at Gettysburg, S. Dak. They moved to Iowa and made their home in Amber where Mr. Nickels was employed as a buttermaker.

Couple later moved to Dysart and made their home. Following Mr. Nickel's death in 1919, the family moved to Anamosa.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen, Mrs. Lloyd O'Dell, Epworth; and Laura, Mrs. Robert Munsen, Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Richard Nickels and Lawrence Nickels, both of Anamosa.

Others include one sister, Mrs. Kathleen DuFloth, Anamosa; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth; one son, Lee; five brothers and three sisters.
