OLIN--Dwight Lyman "Dee" Smith, 61, Olin, died Saturday, Oct. 1, following a lingering illness, at the Scotch Grove nursing home, where he had been a patient since March.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Campbell Funeral home, Olin, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of the Olin E.U.B. church, was in charge of the service. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, southeast of Olin.

Pallbearers were Lloyd Andre, Joe Burgess, Miles Treadway, John Ament, W. F. Robertson and Ralph Sells.

Irene Ballou was soloist, accompanied at the piano by Elna Rohwedder.

He was born Feb. 7, 1899, son of Dwight L. and Emma Cave Smith, south of Olin. He grew to manhood in the Olin vicinity, living his entire life on the family farm. For many years he had made his home with his sister, Laura.

Survivors include his sister, Laura, Mrs. Hallie Byrd, Olin; one nephew, Ivan Byrd, Cedar Rapids, and a number of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, and one sister, who died in infancy.
