MARTELLE-Guy C. Martin, 66, president and cashier of the Martelle Savings bank, died early Friday morning, July 8, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, where he had been a patient for a week following a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 11, at 3 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. Floyd Cripps, Edgewood, officiated. Burial was in Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Pallbearers included Albert Bobst, Leonard Gordon, Henry Weideman, Dale Newman, Lawrence Larson and Raymond Miller.

He was born Aug. 9, 1893, son of M. Guy and Albertine True Martin, Avoca, Iowa. He was married on May 31, 1916 to Marian Hedges at Avoca. Couple made their home in Deloit, Iowa, until 1926 when they moved to Strahm where he started in the banking business. Couple moved to Martelle in 1934 where he was associated with the Farmers Savings bank.

He was a member of the Methodist church; Anmosa lodge No. 46 A.F. & A.M.; Mt. Morah chapter, Order of Eastern Star; Mt. Sinar chapter and Mt. Olivet Commandry; El Kahir shrine; Knights of Pythias, Martelle; and the Jones County Shrine club.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Nirenberg, Falls Church, Va.; and Dorothy, Mrs. Dean Newman, Jackson, Mich.; one brother, Cyrus A. Martin, Herndon, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Merrill Winey, Deloit, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Donald C.
