At the residence of his son, Ira Mead, Oct. 1st, 1865. Mr. Isaac Mead in the 89th year of his age, after a very protracted and painful illness

Father Mead was born in Connecticut in the year 1785. He removed early in life to the state of New York. At the age of about 39 years he united with the Baptist Church of Pitcher, State of New York, where he remained until 1860, when he removed to Jones County, Iowa, and united with the Baptist Church of Fairview, where his membership remained to the day of his death. Father Mead lived a devoted and consistent Christian life; was comforted with the gracious presence of his Savior in his last illness; and died in peace with God and all mankind. The funeral sermon was preached the day following by Eld. N. B. Homan, from Rev., 14:13.
