Funeral services were held at Anamosa for R. M. Peet, prominent Jones county farmer, Wednesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. D. M. Beggs of the Congregational church officiating. Burial was in the Wilcox cemetery. Mr. Peet died at his home in Fairview township Monday following a lingering illness.

Robert Melvin Peet, the son of James and Ann Dallas Peet, was born March 20, 1856 in Fairview township. He was married on Thanksgiving day, 1878, to Miss Carrie Carbee.

Mr. Peet had taken a prominent part in public affairs, serving as a member of the thirtieth and thirtyfirst general assemblies, and as supervisor of Jones county.

Surviving are the wife; two sons and six daughters and nine grandchildren. The children are Mrs. W. F. McCarthy of Ames, Mrs. Meda Bowdish and Minnie A. Peet, at home; Mrs. Ora Hayes of Tipton; Mrs. H. L. Earenfight of California; Mrs. W. E. Dandridge of New Orleans, La., and James W. and Robert M. jr.
