Maquoketa, Iowa, Sept. 25--Mrs. Ada Wherry received a telegram from her husband, J. A. Wherry, dated Pawnee City, Neb., stating that his father, James B. Wherry, passed away Monday morning at the above city, aged 84 years last February. He was born in Ohio.

Mr. Wherry for a great many years was a resident of Wyoming, Iowa. He was a devout Christian who loved his church and church work, was kind-hearted and loved to be doing good even up to the time that he was taken ill, about two weeks ago at his son's at the Decker House.

A number of years ago he moved to Nebraska, where he was active as a farmer for some time, when he retired and for a few days has visited among his children. Last week a son from Nebraska came here to take him to his home and he was accompanied back by his brother, John and his daughter, Miss Lenora, who where at his bed side, when he was called to his Heavenly home.

He leaves three sons and three daughters to mourn his loss, besides two brothers and two sisters, Eb. W. and John T. of Wyoming, and Mrs. John Paul and Mrs. Babcock of the same place.

The funeral was held at 2 o'clock today, and he was laid beside his two wives in Nebraska.
