Kenneth Leggett, 62, of Onslow, died in Iowa City Monday.

Services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hayden Funeral Home, Wyoming, with Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating. Burial was in North Madison Cemetery, Center Junction. Wyoming American Legion Post 259 conducted graveside services.

Pallbearers were Robert Taylor, Alva Husmann, Harlan Brinkman, Howard Emerson, John Tasker and Vernie Schellin.

Mr. Leggett was born in Madison Township, Jones County, February 13, 1915, the son of Wilfrid and Nettie French Leggett. He graduated from Wyoming High School and married Evelyn Thompson at Olin June 12, 1937.

The couple lived in Wyoming until he entered the Navy for two years during World War II. After his discharge, they lived in Onslow, where he operated a Standard Oil tankwagon until 1969. He has been employed at Big Bill's Feed in Onslow for the last several years.

Mr. Leggett served as mayor of Onslow for 10 years and was a member of the Onslow Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Wyoming American Legion Post 259 and Fraternity Masonic Lodge 619 of Onslow.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, three sons, James, of Davenport; Gary Joe, of Onslow; Jerry Lynn, in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Trippoli; three grandchildren; and sisters, Mrs. Carrie Mettler, of Monticello, and Mrs. Lois Michaels, of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents.
