Olin, Ia., Aug. 2--On Monday at 2 o'clock p.m. at his home in Olin, occurred the death of H. C. Freeman after an illness of almost six years, and at the age of 85 years. He was married to Nancy Ann Patton Feb. 22, 1860, and went to housekeeping on a farm near the Pooint church. In this home were born six children, three sons and three daughters, who with the aged companion are left to mourn. They are H. H. and L. G. of Olin; E. C. of Marion, Ia., Mrs. May Rose and Mrs. Mattie Blayney of Olin and Mrs. Blanche Holsey of What Cheer, Iowa. All were at the bedside when the silent messenger entered and are a great comfort to the mother in her sorrow. Mr. Freeman was a soldier in the Civil war and was one of the few remaining veterans in this vicinity. He moved with his family to Olin more than a quarter of a century ago, and has since resided on Jackson street, where he was a familiar figure until age like a trade-storm struck the rugged barque and gradually it sunk beneath the waves in eternity. A very remarkable part of this life, however, is that for more than 57 years, he and his wife walked together, rearing their six children to manhood and womanhood and that he, the husband and father was the first to leave this world. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the house with interment in the City cemetery.
