Margaret Harms

Margaret “Meg” Harms, 77, of Anamosa, Iowa passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Kramer Funeral Home, 700 Oak Street, Monticello, where a parish vigil service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday prior to funeral services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate.

Margaret was born November 15, 1941, in Monticello, the daughter of Samuel Jr. and Mary (Mitchell) Holmes. She married Richard Harms on June 16, 1962 at Sacred Heart in Monticello. They were proud parents of two daughters Lisa and Lanette.

Meg graduated from Sacred Heart Schools, and then worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 4 years. She worked at Rockwell International (Collins Radio) as a quality auditor for 35 years. Meg was a leader for the Campfire girls and Jackson Wise Owls 4H club. She taught CCD for several years at Sacred Heart. Meg sang with the Sacred Heart Choir, Rockwell Mixed Choir and Joyful Noise Women’s Choir. She liked to dance, sew, cook, crafting, and spoil her grandkids and great-grand kids.

Survivors include her husband Richard, children: Lisa (Tim) Snider of Muskegon, MI, Lanette (Brian) Boots of Robins, IA, grandchildren: T.J. Snider, Ashley (Jeremy) Witte, Derek (Mariah) Boots, Lauren (Jake) Nelson, great grandchildren: Kinslee, Javin, Addalynn, Tegan, Kason, and Cecilia, with two more on the way, siblings: Sharon (Don) Katuin, Betty Prull, Robert (Kathy) Holmes and a brother-in-law, Dave Conway.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Charles Holmes, Rosalie Conway and brother-in-law, Harry Prull.
