Funeral services for Peter Martin Friedrichsen, 86, father of Mrs. Howard Carey of Tipton, were held Nov. 26 at Wyoming, with the Rev. Robert R. Ahrens in charge. He died at an Iowa City hospital Nov. 24, after entering the hospital Nov. 8.

Mr. Friedrichsen was born March 31, 1874, in Hattstaedter, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and attended the public school until he was 16. He worked as a farm laborer until he was 21 when he served 2 years in the Gerde Granadier Regiment No. 4 in Spandau, Germany.

He came to the United States in 1898 and settled at Oxford Junction. He was married to Bertha Carstensen of Wyoming in 1903. Mrs. Friedrichsen died in 1938. Since that time he had spent his winters in California and his summers with his 3 daughters in Iowa.

Mr. Friedrichsen is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. Carey, Mrs. Cecil Fell, Olin; Mrs. Carl Seehusen, Center Junction and Mrs. Edward Cramer, North Brook, Ill.; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers, Henry, Everly and Ferdinand, living in Germany.
