Olin, Iowa, July 27--On Saturday morning, July 2, 1917, occurred the death of John Fletcher Scoles, at his home in the east part of town. Mr. Scoles was an old settler of this part of Iowa, and had passed his 85th birthday on last October. He had been failing for some time but had not been sick. He was a member of the M.E. church for more than 70 years and was the last of a family of nine to leave this world. He was buried from the M.E. church Monday, July 28, at 2:30 p.m. Sermon by the Rev. S. V. Williams and services conducted by the Masonic lodge of which he had been a member for more than 50 years. Thus another of the pioneers of Jones county has gone to reward that awaits the faithful. His body was interred in the family lot in this city cemetery.
