Wyoming, Ia., July 11--James Raymond Fickle was born at Fredericksburg, Iowa, April 29, 1897, and received the wounds which caused his death July 1, 1917. In 1911 he came with his parents to Wyoming, attending school here two years, and was a graduate of the Manchester school. In October, 1915, he joined the Iowa National Guard, Company H, First Iowa infantry, and went with his company to Brownsville, Texas, as bugler, returning home on Christmas day, 1916. In March, 1917, he was again called to service, and it was while on guard duty at Madrid that he was accidentally struck by a fast train and died before reaching Des Moines. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents, two brothers and one sister, all of Wyoming. The funeral services were held Thursday morning at the Methodist church, Rev. Bowder officiating, assisted by A. A. Moore of Central City, Iowa, and Rev. DeBest of the Presbyterian church of Wyoming, Rev. J. Arthur Young, of Fayette, Ia., read a sketch of his life. Burial was made in the beautiful Wyoming cemetery on the Hill.

Private Enos A. Sloan escorted the body home; Elmer Brokaw, the engineer who was in charge of the train from Perry, Iowa; also Lieut. Thos. F. Wilson, First Lieut. W. W. Matthews, Supply Sergeant Albert Meyers, Corporal Frank Sedgwick, Musician John Anderson and Cook Chester Townsley were in attendance at the funeral.
