Mrs. Agnes Findlater, 64, died suddenly at her home Sunday, Dec. 19, 1976. Dr. Alexander John MacDonald Findlater, 77, passed away Sunday, Dec. 26, 1976. Both were victims of heart attacks.

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church, Olin on Wednesday, Dec. 22 and 29 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ralph Grote in charge. The couple were laid to rest in the Olin Cemetery.

Mrs. Findlater was born Agnes Davison in South Wales, Bradford, England. In her adult life, she was a state licensed nurse. She worked in a mental hospital in England for a number of years.

Dr. Findlater was born Nov. 29, 1899 in India to missionary parents, John and Sarah Anne Jeffery Findlater. He was educated at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. He served in the Royal Air Force during WWI from 1916 to 1919.

The couple were married Oct. 20, 1950 and came to the United States on Nov. 7, 1953. They made their residence in Olin, where Dr. Findlater was the town doctor. He was also a member of the staff of doctors serving the Anamosa Men's Reformatory.

Dr. and Mrs. Findlater are survived by a daughter, Mrs. Franklin (Flora) Haker of Wyoming and a son, Malcolm, who is a student at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, several grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Dr. Findlater is also survived by 3 children of a previous marriage, who all live in England. They are John, Robert and Margaret Holgate.

Mrs. Findlater was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister and 3 brothers, who died in WWII. Dr. Findlater was preceded by his parents and his wife, Agnes.
