9 April 1917 - The Clinton Advertiser page 8

Olin, Ia., April 9--Elmo R. Brown was born to O. S. and Elizabeth Brown on a farm north east of Olin, Dec. 4, 1888, and passed from this life at his home in Olin, April 1, 1917, after weeks of intense suffering. He was married to Maude Shaffer of Hale, Iowa, June 1, 1911, and to them were born two sons, Lowell and Leslie, who with the wife and mother are left to mourn. Last fall he decided to leave the farm because of failing health and in early December moved to town. He went to Iowa City in January, thinking there might be some relief, but to no avail, and was brought back after three weeks of treatment. He suffered intensely from that time on until the end, which came peacefully at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The funeral was held from the U.B. Church, of which he was a member, Tuesday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Limon of the M.E. church, Anamosa. Interment was in the city cemetery. Beside his wife and sons are his parents and one sister, Miss Nettie, all of Anamosa.
