Our people were shocked to hear of the death of Mr. Moses Brothers, living one mile south of Olin, who committed suicide Tuesday by hanging himself in the barn. No cause for the rash act is known, and the only possible reason that can be advanced is sickness, he being a sufferer at times from sick headache. He was well-to-do so far as this world's goods are concerned and having rented his farm and sold his farm property, had bought a place in Olin, where he was building a house, the frame being ready to raise the day he ended his life. On Monday he was painting the barn on this place and on going home that evening complained of being tired and in the night was taken sick. Tuesday morning he was better and sitting back from the table admired a carpet which his wife was preparing for their new home. He went out about ten o'clock and it was supposed he had gone to Olin to look after his building and was not found until late that evening, his body hanging by a three-quarter inch rope to the rafters of the barn. He had got everything in readiness for the end and made a leap, breaking his neck in the fall. The blow is almost heart-rending to his wife, who can give no cause for his rash act, and she is in a critical condition from nervous prostration arising therefrom. Mr. and Mrs. Brothers, the latter a sister of Mr. Joseph Blaisdell, were well known throughout this section and his death will be mourned by many whose sympathy will be extended to the afflicted wife. The funeral will occur today at eleven o'clock at the home of the deceased, Rev. Curtis conducting the services. He leaves, besides his wife, a brother in Oklahoma and two sisters in Kansas, who were expected to reach here in time to attend the funeral.
