Lena Jurgensen, 88, passed away Thursday evening, March 18, at Anamosa Community Hospital, following a brief illness. She had made her home at the Anamosa Care Center for the past two years.

Lena Kreger was born July 26, 1887, in Olin, the daughter of William and Wilhelmine Kreger. She was baptized and confirmed in the Olin Lutheran church.

She married John Jurgensen on February 9, 1910 in Olin. The couple farmed 23 years near Olin, before moving to Wyoming in 1933.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran church, Lutheran circle, and the Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceeded in death by her husband John, who passed away in 1960. She is survived by three children, Everett, Knoxville, Iowa, Mrs. John (Imogene) Smeltzer, Lowden, and Mrs. Vernon (Delores) Eganhouse, Wyoming, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Services were held on March 22 at the Lutheran church in Wyoming, Rev. John Flaa officiated.

Pallbearers were Ervon Schroeder, Duane Jurgensen, Harry Rohwedder, Vernie Kreger, Elmer Petersen and Fred Hefflefinger.

Burial was in the Olin cemetery.
