Anamosa, Ia., Jan. 29--The remains of Mrs. Silas Sams were brought here from Garrison for burial Tuesday. Mrs. Sams was born in Pennsylvania in 1835 and came to Iowa in 1842; her maiden name was Foust and she is survived by two brothers, Michael and Benjamin Foust, both of Springville. In 1854 she married Silas Sams and for many years they lived on a farm in Cass township. Eight children were born to them, five of whom are dead: Mrs. L. A. Leek of Garrison, Charles Sams of Anamosa and Ezra Sams of Cedar Rapids survive her. The funeral services were held at the home of her son, Charles, conducted by the Rev. Evans, and the burial was in the private family cemetery on the home farm in Cass.
