Anamosa, Ia., Oct. 19--The funeral services for Mrs. D. A. Peet were held in the Congregational church Monday afternoon. Mrs. Peet died in Los Angeles, Calif., last week. She was the daughter of Roswell Crane, one of the pioneer settlers of this town, and spent the larger part of her life in Anamosa. Mr. and Mrs. Peet went to California some years ago on account of their health, which was much improved by the change. Mr. Peet died some time ago and in accordance with his request his body was cremated, but when the remains of his wife were brought to Anamosa for burial his ashes were brought and buried in the same coffin. Miss Josie Chapman, who accompanied the funeral party, also brought the ashes of her father, Dr. Chapman, who died in California, for burial in the cemetery of his old home town. Mrs. Peet was just a little past 81. She is survived by a son, George Peet, who resides in Utah, and a daughter, Mrs. Charles Wids, who with her husband was present at the funeral. Mrs. Marcia Cox, a sister who resides in Des Moines, was also able to be in attendance.
