page 2Clarence (Doc) Romer, 72, passed away Wednesday, November 7, at Jackson County Hospital in Maquoketa. He was born August 12, 1901 near Maquoketa, the son of John and Elizabeth Moeller Romer. He was married on September 14, 1924 in Davenport to Geraldine Orr. They lived and farmed in the Maquoketa and Andrew areas before moving to a farm in the Wyoming area in 1938. In 1949 they moved into Wyoming but remained in the farming operation until 1966.
Doc Romer was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church served on the City Council for 23 years and was a member of the Wyoming Fair Assoc. for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Lee of Oxford Jct., one daughter Mrs. Clayton (Gwen) Snyder of Wyoming, five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, one brother, Lloyd of Maquoketa and 4 sisters, Mrs. Bruce Claussen, Mrs. Myrtle O'Brien, Mrs. Inez Sutton all of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Albin Hertsensen of Clinton.
Mr. Romer was proceeded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.
Services will be held Saturday, November 10, at 1:30 pm in the Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Don Feuerhak will officiate. Burial will be in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming.
