11 May 1916 - The Clinton Advertiser

Center Junction, Ia. May 11--On Sunday at the Presbyterian church was held the funeral of J. H. Lewis, who accidentally met his death Friday while out hinting ground-hogs. In some manner unknown, while crawling through a wire fence, his shot gun was accidentally discharged, striking him in the face, inflicting a mortal wound. Life was extinct when he was discovered. Having spent the most of his life in the vicinity of Center Junction, his death was a great shock to all. The large crowd in attendance and the beautiful floral offerings show the sympathy and respect felt for the bereaved family. Rev. Elges had charge of the services. Interment at North Madison cemetery.
