MONTICELLO, Iowa - Grace M. Miller, 89, of Monticello, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11, 2003, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a long illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, with the Rev. Donald Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monticello. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Miller worked at the Monticello Senior Home from approximately 1975 to 1985.

She was born on May 8, 1914, in Epworth, daughter of Edward and Anna (Tucker) Tucker.

She married William R. Sternhagen on Nov. 16, 1932; he preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1947. They farmed in the Worthington/Farley area. She later married Frank H. Miller on Sept. 12, 1955, in Iowa City; he preceded her in death on May 26, 1992. Together they farmed outside of Hopkinton until retirement. They retired in 1972, and moved to Monticello in 1973.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, flowers, gardening and bingo.

Surviving are five daughters, Lois (Robert) Leonard, of Center Junction, Lorraine Hunter, of Hopkinton, Helen (Rhinehart) Topping, of Anamosa, Rita (Wilfred) Kleitsch, of Monticello, and Mary (Tom) Kleitsch, of Cedar Rapids; a son, Donald (Sandy) Sternhagen, of Marion; 27 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 11 great- great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and numerous step-great and step-great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin Tucker, of Monticello, and Eldon (Inez) Tucker and Kenneth Tucker, both of Hopkinton; two sisters, Luella Sternhagen, of Hopkinton, and Dorothy Tucker, of Monticello; a son-in-law, Cecil Boner, of Amber; and a sister-in-law, Doris Tucker, of Manchester.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Boner; two sons-in-law, Alfred Pejchl and Fred Hunter; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Hunter; a sister, Viola Moriarity; two brothers, Joseph and Elmer Tucker; two brothers-in-law, Jack Moriarity and Leo Sternhagen; and two sisters-in-law, Vivian Tucker and Virginia Tucker.
