Clarissa Paulina Reamer, nee Brink, was born in Bradford county, Pennsylvania, May 3, 1831, and died near Dayton Chapel, Jones county, Iowa, Jan. 22, 1899. Mrs. Reamer, or Miss Brink as she then was, emigrated to this section of country in 1855, where she was married to Ralph Reamer in 1856, he having emigrated here in 1854.
For years they have lived on the home place in the southern part of Jones county, where their children were born, grew up and married, until now their children's children are fast approaching manhood and womanhood.
Mrs. Reamer's death was somewhat sudden and unexpected. She attended divine worship at the Valley church, of which she was a member of long standing, on Sunday, Jan. 1, and a week later, Jan. 8, was spent in waiting on the sick, a work which she had done a good share of, her face and hands and heart oft ministering to the sick and dying. On Jan. 10 she was taken sick with what was thought to be the grip, which terminated in her death Jan. 22. Her funeral was conducted at the Valley church by Rev. O. L. Snow, a large company of relatives, friends and neighbors showing their appreciation of her life and sorrow at her death by their attendance at her funeral.
Truly "in the midst of life we are in the midst of death."
