20 August 1942 - The Clarence Sun

It is presumed that Fred Fritz, 36, of Oxford Junction, thinking that a freight train on the first of the two tracks at the main crossing at Oxford Junction was operating the signal, drove directly in front of the Milwaukee's streamliner last Friday afternoon and was instantly killed. His body was mutilated and dismembered. He was driving a truck carrying a portable mill which was hit so that it was picked up and carried by the motor car.

Fritz, owner of the Oxford theatre, also operated the portable mill. He also owned a theatre in What Cheer and until recently had operated one in Wilton Junction.

Born in Oxford Junction, he was married June 7, 1928, to Dorothy Seeger, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Richard; his mother, Mrs. Anton Hejka of Cedar Rapids, and his father of What Cheer.

The largely attended funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at the Oxford Junction Methodist church. The sermon was by Reverend James K. Delahooke of Anamosa. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery.
