Martelle - Funeral services for Allen J. Siver, 97, a pioneer resident of the area, were held Monday at the Morley E.U.B. church. Mr. Siver died Friday at a Springville rest home where he had been a patient for 8 years.

He was born July 24, 1866, near Schenectady, N.Y., and came to the Mechanicsville area with his brother, Henry, in 1883. He worked on farms in the Mechanicsville area for several years.

Mr. Siver married Cora Manly Feb. 26, 1891, at the home of her parents, the present Thomas Siver farm near Mechanicsville. The couple farmed in the vicinity except for two years when they lived in Mt. Vernon and he painted. They moved to the farm near Martelle, now occupied by his son, Arthur, in 1923 and stayed there until going to the nursing home in 1955.

Mr. Siver was a member of the Morley Evangelical United Brethren church, was active in the Farm Bureau, was a long-time trustee for Greenfield township in Jones county and served as a school director.

Survivors include his 92-year-old widow, three sons, Otis and John, of Mechanicsville; Arthur, Martelle; 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

Burial was in White Oak cemetery northwest of Mechanicsville with Horner's funeral home in charge.
