Death of a Young Wife
Mrs. Joseph Carr Summond after a Lingering Illness

Mrs. Joseph Carr, of Whitewater township, died at 8 o’clock Tuesday morning after a lingering illness, but while her condition was considered serious at times the news of her death was a shock to many friends of the popular young woman, and the deepest sympathy is expressed for the young husband who loses this inestimable treasure from his household, and for the little child not more than one year old and unable to realize its own great loss, the feeling of sympathy deepens beyond expression.

Mrs. Carr, whose maiden name was Julia Sweeney, is a daughter of Mrs. Catherine Sweeney, of Whitewater township. She was born in March 1874, on the old homestead, and lived most if not all her life in that section. Early in life she fitted herself for a teacher’s course, and for a number of years was one of the most successful instructresses in the rural schools of this county.

On the 2d day of September, 1902, she was united in marriage to Joseph Carr. One child was born to them. During the past year Mrs. Carr had been in delicate health, and her decline was gradual but hopelessly inevitable. She was a lady of charming personality and gentle disposition.

The funeral services were held at St. John’s church, Placid, this morning, Rev. J. J. Brogan officiating.
