Olin - Funeral services were held for Benhart Sulzner, 87, in St. John's Lutheran church on Sept. 24, at 2 p.m.

Mr. Sulzner died early Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edith Vernon.

The Rev. Daniel W. Mohr conducted the service. Mrs. Kenneth Guhl was organist.

Benhart Sulzner was born July 25, 1879, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sulzner at Bern, Switzerland. The family came to the United States and settled at Monticello.

Mr. Sulzner was confirmed on March 29, 1896 at the Reform church, Monticello. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran church, Olin, during his adult years.

On Sept. 21, 1905 he was married to Lena Meyer, Monticello. They farmed in the Monticello and Mechanicsville areas until 1955 when they retired and moved to Olin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena, on July 18, 1955; a son, Clarence and sisters, Emma Kaufman, Elizabeth Meier, Cecila Meyer, Lene Broneman and Sophia Appleby and a brother, Samuel.

Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. Edith Vernon, Olin and Mrs. Harold (Irene) Streets, Mechanicsville; a son, Arthur, also of Mechanicsville; sisters, Margaret Orcutt, Earlville; Bertha Crim, Monticello and Mary Ammeter, Manchester. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were all nephews, Elmer Orcutt, Robert Appleby, Edward Meier, Fred Kaufman, Clarence Meyer and Roland Broneman.

Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello. Hayden Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
