Final rites for Mrs. John (Ruth E.) Gross, 70, mother of Mrs. Ken (Kathy) Engelbart, Lowden, were held in Wyoming Oct. 2, 1989 with burial in the Amber cemetery. Mrs. Gross died at the Jackson County hospital Oct. 1.

She married John Gross in 1953. He died in 1986.

Mrs. Gross worked in the restaurant business before beginning work in the HACAP office in Anamosa. She worked 14 years in federal programs.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church, Anamosa and had been active in the Oak Drive club, Scott's Grove and Amberettes, Amber. In addition to Mrs. Engelbart, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Richard (Karla) Hoffman, Wyoming; a son, Rudolph (Kim), Des Moines; 6 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Ed (Darlene) Dvorak, Marquette, Nebr. and Dorothy Sikes, Loveland, Colo.
