Otto Luker, 88, Dies at Maquoketa

Olin - Otto Luker, 86, a former resident, died May 19 at the Jackson county hospital, Maquoketa.

Funeral services were held May 21 with a family prayer service at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist church, Olin, and the memorial service at the church at 2 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro conducted the service. Ann Morning was vocalist and Mrs. Leon Stivers was organist. Burial was in the Forest cemetery, south of Anamosa.

Pallbearers included Edward Bunting, Bert Jones, Burdell Miniards, Carl Hartwig, Robert McKee and Robert Yelden.

He was born Feb. 11, 1882, son of William and Adeline Collins Luker, at Stendal, Ind. He spent his childhood and early manhood in Indiana. He was married to Eleanor Henke on Jan. 28, 1902. He farmed in Indiana until 1902 when they moved to Iowa, settling in Jones county. They moved to the Olin vicinity in 1938, where they lived until 1957. Most of their retirement years were spent in Strawberry Point.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor, Strawberry Point, and the following children: William, Aberdine, Idaho; Elmer, Stendal, Ind.; Mrs. Arthur (Ethel) McGuire, Olin; Harry, Anamosa; Mrs. Maurice (Eleanor) Brady, Cascade; Clamore and Mrs. Lynn (Helen) Dripps, both of Strawberry Point; and Mrs. James (Viola) Cruise, Cedar Rapids; 22 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, and a brother, Herman, Evansville, Ind.
