David Shane Riches, age 33, died Monday, October 3, 2011 in Anamosa.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. Rev Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa.
Interment will be at the Clay Cemetery in Onslow, Iowa.

Surviving are his mother, Gaye of Onslow; three children, Allie, Mia and Carter, and their mother; three sisters, Renee (Todd) Elder of Anamosa, Theresa (Dan) Otten of Verona, Wisconsin, and Kimberly Riches of Onslow; a brother, Christopher (Mandy) Riches of Onslow; his partner in life, Elizabeth Sands; and many nieces and nephews.

David Shane Riches was born June 16, 1978, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of John and Gaye (Baker) Riches. David was a 1996 graduate of Midland High School. David worked at Central Park as seasonal law enforcement for years. On April 5, 1999, he went to the Monticello Police Department, where he attended The Police Academy graduating in April 2000. He also worked part time for the Cascade Police Department. He then transferred to Anamosa, where he became a canine officer with "Lucky" and also worked part time for the Jones County Sheriff's Office, totaling sixteen years in law enforcement.

David was a loving son, father, brother and friend. He will be missed dearly by everyone.
