April 19, 1933–May 1, 2010

Darold E. DeLaMater, 77, of Olin, Iowa, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

A celebration of his life service was held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin, with Pastor Pat Slater officiating. Burial was in the Lost Nation Cemetery, Lost Nation, Iowa. Family and friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin.

Darold Earl DeLaMater was born April 19, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Harold and Hazel (Mulinix) DeLaMater. He married Sandra Mohr on August 24, 1974 in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1985.
He was a machinist at Universal Engineering in Cedar Rapids for thirty years. He enjoyed racing stock cars and motorcycles and could work on anything. He loved his dogs and spoiling his grandkids.

He is survived by six children, Bobbi DeLaMater of Des Moines, Michael (Maria) DeLaMater, Debra Brokaw & Tami (Joe) Cerruto, all of Cedar Rapids; Timi DeLaMater of Austin, Minnesota and LaMista (Gabe) Watters of Olin; two step-sons, Alex (Mary) Wenndt and Andy (Karen) Wenndt, of Cedar Rapids; twenty grandchildren; and one brother, Harold DeLaMater, Jr., of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and a daughter, Cindy Dyer in 1996.
