July 14, 1963–October 4, 2011

Christopher "Gilly" Gillmore, age 48, died suddenly Tuesday, October 4, 2011.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, October 8, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Darryl Larson officiated at the services.

Chris is survived by his wife, Marcy, his three children, Nathaniel, Cassie and Caleb, his mother, Rose Gillmore, Monticello, two sisters, Vicki (Darrell Taylor) Gillmore, Monticello, Michelle (David) Hosch, Hopkinton and a brother, Kurt (Tammy) Gillmore, Monticello, his best friend, Dennis Blunt; his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Barb Catlett; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Chris (Jeff) Tjaden, Jody (Bryan) Lovell, Angie (Jon) Osterkamp. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Gillmore on June 29, 2009.

Christopher Wayne Gillmore was born July 14, 1963 at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Bruce and Rose (Lubs) Gillmore. Chris graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1982. He was employed at C. & L. Dryer in Monticello for many years, starting in high school and working part-time after he had started working at the Iowa Men's Reformatory. Chris married Marcy Catlett on September 28, 1996 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. He has been employed at the Reformatory since December of 1983. He was currently the Production Coordinator at Iowa Prison Industries, where he was respected by his co-workers.

Chris was a Green Bay Packers fanatic. He also enjoyed racing of all kinds. He currently raced in the Midwest Jalopy Racing Series and had raced go-carts. Chris was also an avid bowler, bowling a 299 and 300 game. He also enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, playing cards and horseshoes. Chris was always ready to help a friend and continued that giving by being a tissue donor at his death.
