Benjamin Harrison
5 August 1820–23 July 1876Mr. Benj. Harrison, living between Anamosa and Fairview, has been suffering for years from an affliction of the knee and finally ulceration set in. After a consultation of physicians an amputation of the leg was determined upon as affording the only hope of prolonging life. Accordingly a week ago last Wednesday Dr. Stoddart, assisted by Drs. Adair, McLean and Eaton, performed the operation, but the strength of Mr. Harrison gave way and he died the following Sabbath. His age was 56 years.
Benjamin Harrison is buried at Center Cemetery.
