Ann J. Clark Meek
A Highly Esteemed Pioneer Enters into Rest

Ann J. Clark was born in Fredricks county, Virginia, Dec 4th, 1820. At the age of 9 years she moved with her parents to Meigs county, Ohio. She was married to J. W. Meek May 7th, 1840. In 1867 she with her husband moved to Jones county, Iowa, living on a farm in Jackson township until 1885, then moving to Anamosa where she lived until her death. Eleven children were born to this union, three having died in infancy. Those living are, Mrs. Frank Grimm, I. H. Meek, and A. L. Meek, of Anamosa; Mrs J. Sherman, living near Morley; Mrs. R. Russell, living near Olin; J. W. Meek, of Lincoln, Kansas; E. C. Meek. Ellsworth, Kansas; James Meek, Wheeling W.Va. She united with the Baptist church at the age of 21 years and has since that time been a devoted Christian. Her death occurred at the home of her son, I. H. Meek, Anamosa, May 18, 1902, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 14 days, being caused by a stroke of paralysis. The funeral was held at the home of I. H. Meek May 20, Rev. W. N. Rouse officiating.

Many beautiful floral designs were provided by loving ones. The pall-bearers were A. J. Byerly, A. A. Myrick, Wm. Troy, A. N. Denison, Wm. Alspaugh, Marion Belknap. She was buried by the side of her husband in Riverside Cemetery. I. H. Meek and family desire to thank all who so kindly rendered assistance in time of the sickness and death of their loving mother.
