Anna Louise Dusanek was born on January 15, 1918, in Wyoming, Iowa, to George V. Dusanek, Jr., and Millie A. Henak Dusanek. She attended Oak Grove Country School, graduating from Wyoming High School in 1935 and Cedar Rapids Business College in 1936. She worked at the Agricultural Adjustment Administration office in Monticello from 1936 to 1944, the State Agricultural office in Albuquerque, NM, and for the Bureau of Entomology in Spokane, WA.
On February 26, 1945, Ann and Ervin Clarence Hansen were married in the Fort George Wright Chapel in Spokane, Washington. They settled in Ervin's hometown, Oxford Junction, after the war, where they remained vibrant residents and raised their three children: David Ervin (Kate) Hansen, Linda Marie (Daniel) Butler, and Steven Dennis Donna) Hansen with constant love and support.
Ann was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sanctuary Guild and American Legion Auxiliary. Ann's husband and her two sons served the U. S. military during wartime in support of their country, and her grandson, Adam is currently serving in Afghanistan. She had also been active in Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary, the Election Board (since 1956), and the Senior Citizens Center, where she managed the Bingo financial records for about 20 years and led a weekly exercise class until this past winter. Ann thoroughly enjoyed her years as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a 4-H Leader. After busy years as a devoted homemaker, Ann worked in the office at the Oxford Junction Consolidated School for two years. In 1947, she was a founding member of the Pinochle Club, which continues to meet every other Wednesday to this day; Ann was the last original member of this cherished group of card-playing friends. She loved walking, bicycling, sewing, quilting, and caning chairs; she was known for her baking, especially kolaches, bread and pies. Ann enjoyed her own home through this winter until she moved to Silvercrest in Anamosa.
Ann is survived by her three children; two dear sisters, Velma Knake of Onslow and JoAnn Murphy of Milwaukee; one close sister-in-law Ann Sobotka, of Oxford Junction; four grandchildren, Matthew Thompson, Kimberly (Jay) Markmann, Nikki Hansen and Adam Hansen; and five great-grandchildren, Madison, Calli, Carson, Brayden, and Kaylee. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ervin in 1982.Ann cherished her family, friends, religion, community and country. She will be missed dearly and remembered for her loving nature, kind hearted generosity, honesty, integrity and deep abiding faith.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Mercy Medical Center and Hospice of Mercy for their loving care and the support given to Ann and her family during the past few weeks.
