Lifelong Labor leader Dan Kelley died Tuesday, December 19, 2000 at his home following a valiant flight with colon cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Kelley was creator and president of UE Local 893 Iowa United Professionals. He worked as a child abuse investigator for the Department of Human Services. He devoted his life to the causes of the working class.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Sylvia; his children Deirdre, Kathleen, Colleen, Brendan and Molly; his union brothers and sisters and his many friends.

He requested no service. Turner Chapel East is in charge of arrangements.
