C.E. “Bill” Bream, 74, of Oxford died peacefully Monday, January 2, 2006 at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 2pm at the Oxford Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Townsley officiating. Burial with military honors by the Oxford American Legion will be at the Oxford Cemetery. Friends may call at the Oxford Methodist Church from 3 to 7pm Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Bill was born January 10, 1931 in Iowa City, the son of Clarence and Violet Ione Meyers Bream. He was a 1949 graduate of Tiffin High School. He served in the Marine Corps from 1951-54, where he was a Sergeant in the 7th Engineers Battalion and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. On April 20, 1952 he married Reta Mae Slade.

Bill and his wife had farmed south of Tiffin but in 1986 they bought the farm next to the Oxford Cemetery. In addition to farming Bill had managed the Me-Jon Fertilizer Plant and the ADS Drainage Tile Co. He had owned and operated Bream Bins and Buildings and had worked for Consumers Co-Op in Tiffin.

Bill was Past Commander of the Coralville American Legion and a present member of the Oxford American Legion. In 2003 he was honored as the Oxford Citizen of the Year. He had served as mayor of Tiffin and Past President of the Clear Creek Boosters Cub.

Bill enjoyed the time spent with family and friends, farming and reading. He followed Iowa football and occasionally would take a chance at gambling. The family extends their appreciation to Iowa City Hospice and the Oxford First Responders for all their care.

Bill is survived by his wife, Reta of Oxford, IA., two sons, Don (Becky) Bream, Michael (Connie) Bream and one daughter, Wanda (Larry) Sedivec, all of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Scott and Sarah Sedivec, Jason, Matt and Kelly Bream, Sara (Ross) Casteel and Bradly Bream; eight siblings, Phillip (Carol) Bream of Florida, Gary (Susan) Bream of Georgia, Ronald (Carol)Bream of Homestead, Iowa, Arlene (John) Spenner of Riverside, Iowa, Emily (Francis) Lewis of Iowa City, Paulette (Jerry) Bolton of Tennessee, Robert (Betty) Bream of Coralville and Dale (Alicia) Bream of Iowa City;.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Doris and two brothers Donald and Kenneth.
