Andrew “Andy” R. Louvar, 44, of Iowa City passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
Information for an open house celebration of Andy's life will be updated by April 6, 2025.
A private burial service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Solon at a later date.
Andy was born on September 10, 1980, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Robert and Carolyn “Carrie” (Mason) Louvar. Andy was a 1999 graduate of Solon High School where he played football, baseball and loved acting in the school theatrical plays. He enjoyed going to the Maquoketa Caves with friends, watching the Chicago White Sox, and his many adventures with his cousins. Andy also worked at Hy-Vee as a courtesy clerk and checker/stocker while in high school.
Andy played football at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, for a season and then went on to Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before he jumped into the full-time workforce. Andy explored different career paths through his adulthood, working at Knebel Electric, Iowa Medical and Classification Center, as an independent contractor for Mediacom, Wade Painting, and Coles Quality Foods Bakery before retiring early from the workforce.
Throughout school and adulthood, Andy loved his family, friends, many pets, and the bonds he had with each of them. He was very passionate about fishing, turtle hunting, the men's softball league he played in, and cooking, and he was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He loved all kinds of movies, and The Walking Dead and Andrew Zimmern were among his favorite shows. He was a great story teller about anything he wanted to share with you, and would always start by saying “long story short” (and you knew it was probably going to be longer than shorter).
Andy's greatest love in life was his daughter Everlee. She was his everything. Though their time was cut short, they made an abundance of memories together. When Everlee was little they played games, read books, enjoyed going out to eat, and Andy once participated in a dance recital with her. As she got older they loved going on trips; to “Spooky Cave” in McGregor, Iowa, where they got to take a boat ride through the cave, to Chicago to see the “Big Bean”, and to the Zoo in Illinois where they got to feed the giraffes, to name just a few. Locally they liked shopping, hiking through Devonian Fossil Gorge, climbing the rocks by the reservoir dam, spending time at Lake McBride, going to Kroul's pumpkin patch in the fall, and so much more. They also enjoyed watching movies and playing board games and video games together. Their favorite video game was Fallout 4. They spent countless hours cooking and baking together; a couple of their favorites were making puppy chow and peanut butter cookies with chocolate stars.
Andy is survived by his daughter Everlee Louvar; father Robert Louvar; brother Mat Louvar; sister Missy Louvar; brother-in-law Tim Wigger; nieces Morgan and Kira Louvar; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, and his best friend Mike, who will all miss Andy and cherish the countless smiles, goofy laughs and fun memories he left them with.
Andy was preceded in death by his infant son Everett, his mother Carrie, grandparents Chiles William and Mary Ethel (Vrchoticky) Mason and Edward John and Emma Rosetta (Krchmar) Louvar, former spouse Lauren Lee, sister-in-law Nicki Raitt, his Aunt Marsha Donohue, first cousins Stephanie Clark and Meagan Russell, second cousin Grant Colbert, and his family dog Lua.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for his daughter's future at Green State Credit union under the Andy Louvar Memorial Fund.
The family hopes that anyone who would like to share a great Andy memory or would like to express their condolences to please do
