Harry Truman Frantz, 75 of Iowa City, IA was lovingly surrounded by his family when he died peacefully on Monday, July 8 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday, July 11 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Iowa City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 12 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's with Fr. Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City.

Harry was born on January 20, 1949, to Orion and Alberta (Kron) Frantz. He graduated from Regina High School in 1967. Harry married Marlene Wombacher on August 24, 1968, and they were blessed with nearly 56 years of marriage. Harry was a long-time employee of the Johnson County Courthouse in the Clerk of Court Department, where he was a friendly face and a welcoming presence. He retired in 2012. Harry was a lifelong parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a Knights of Columbus member and a 2011 Regina Hall of Fame Inductee.

Harry remained a devoted Regina Regal throughout his life and was grateful for the relationships he and Marlene forged with others through Regina. Harry’s greatest source of pride was his children and grandchildren. He loved family gatherings, proudly attended the grandchildren’s events, and treasured regular visits and phone calls with all of his family.

Those left to honor Harry's memory include his wife, Marlene, of Iowa City; daughter Kim (Scot) Pedersen of Urbandale, IA; son Barry (Chris) of Marion, IA and his grandchildren: Zach, Alex and Jaycee Frantz and Macy and Mallory Pedersen; his sisters Rose Rogers of North Liberty, IA, Doris Durand of Sunnyvale, CA and Linda Klein of Iowa City; brothers Wayne (Patty) Frantz of Iowa City and Don (Jane) Frantz of Coralville and many nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard and brothers-in-law Bill Durand, Paul Rogers, Dick Klein and nephew Scott Rogers.

Memorials may be directed to the Regina Foundation or the Harry Truman Frantz Memorial Fund which will be directed to additional causes important to Harry.
