Marilyn Floy Brase, 91, of Iowa City, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024 at home surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Monday, July 1, 2024 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City with a time of sharing at 6 PM. Funeral Services will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice .

Marilyn was born on May 2, 1933 in Yakima, WA the daughter of Kesten and Letha (Cuendet) Jaeger. In 1951, she graduated from Olympia High School in Washington State before attending Trinity Bible College in Deerfield, Illinois where she met her husband and lifetime partner, Jack Brase. Marilyn was united in marriage to Jack on August 20, 1955 in Tumwater, WA. The family returned to Jack’s home state of Iowa where Marilyn took courses at the University of Iowa and taught in the Muscatine School District. In 1972 the family moved to Guadalajara, Mexico for four years where Marilyn taught at Lincoln School. When they returned to the United States, they lived in Trout Lake, WA where Marilyn worked for the Forest Service. After retirement, she and Jack moved back to Iowa to be near their grandchildren.

She was a devout Christian who was most recently attending Parkview Church. Marilyn was very loving, open, and generous. Marilyn loved to knit baby blankets, sweaters and Christmas stockings not just for her family, but others as well. Marilyn’s caring touched the lives of many family members and friends.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Jack; four sons, Steven Brase of Iowa City, Thomas (Mary) Brase of Riverside, IA, Calvin (Pamela) Brase of North Liberty and Donald (Amy) Brase of Salem, OR, ten grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Alyssa, Noah, Corrie, Moriah, Gabriel, Zach, Anna and Nathan; and one great-grandchild, Kade.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Aaron and David Jaeger; sister, Dorothy VanSoest; and nieces, Eileen Podraza and Lennie Anderson.
