Curtis “Curt” Nedoba, 84, of Coralville, peacefully passed away from complications related to pancreatic cancer at his home surrounded by family on May 28, 2024.

Curt was born in Bloomer, WI, to Emil and Ilene Nedoba on August 1, 1939. He was an Eagle Scout, an avid sports enthusiast, and an avid outdoorsman. Curt played college baseball at UW Eau Claire. He also built hotrods while working at his father’s Buick Dealership.

Curt graduated from Bloomer High School in 1957. He attended UW Eau Claire with degrees in sociology and psychology. He attended the University of Denver with a Master of Social Work degree.

Curt married his High School sweetheart, Carol (Fehr), and they remained together until his death. Curt was very committed to his entire family. He really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the family Cottage on Sand Lake, WI.

After graduation, Curt took a position with the State of Wisconsin Health and Human Services in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, emphasizing child adoption and placement.

In 1969, Curt accepted a position in Waterloo, IA, as a therapist for Psychiatric Associates. The family lived in neighboring Cedar Falls until moving to Coralville, IA, in 2004. Curt joined Andersen Arnold & Associates as a therapist in Iowa City before retiring at 70.

In retirement, Curt was an avid golfer (finally curing his slice) and cribbage player. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City and served on the church council and other church committees. He was also an active participant in the Lost Boys Bible study group.

Curt was also a passionate fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes as a season ticket holder for 40 years, attending men’s and women’s basketball, football, and wrestling. He attended several baseball, softball, volleyball, and women’s gymnastics meets. One of his favorite activities was attending the Quarterback Club lunches every Monday.

Curt is survived by his wife Carol (Fehr) Nedoba; children Brian of Iowa City and Timothy Nedoba of Coralville; grandchildren Molly (Palmer) Schulz and their children Hudson and Tinley, Andy (Emilee) Nedoba and their children Charles and Henry, Petra Nedoba and grandchildren Samuel, Ema, Olivia, and Simon Nedoba; and sister Mary Jane (Larry) Pukall.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael, on 1/23/24.

A Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 11, at Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City at 9:30 a.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Marsha Smith. A private family burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be directed to Zion Lutheran Church, Community Crisis Services and Food Bank, or another charity of your choice.
