Cynthia Ann Olson, 66, of Iowa City, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, May 5, 2024. A gathering will be held from 2-4 PM, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. A Memorial Service will follow at 4 PM. Memorials may be made to the Amy Lynn Pretorius Scholarship, and/or Cedar Valley Pit Bull.

Cindi was born on February 19, 1958, in Jefferson, IA, the daughter of Roy and Darlene Shotwell. After her high school graduation in Ogden, IA, Cindi worked for several newspapers in the Midwest and Arizona before retiring from the Dubuque Telegraph Herald in June, 2022. Cindi left her successful and busy career to help be the best grandmother to her grandson William, and new granddaughter, Isabelle. When Cindi wasn't chasing a toddler she could be found gardening, golfing, or even restarting her long ago hobby of rollerskating. Cindi was a loving mother and trusted friend to many, as she had never met a stranger.

Cindi is survived her husband, Eric Olson; two children, Keri Ganoe (John Hogren) of Iowa City, and Bryan Doxsee (Megan Renison) of Lake Wood, CA; two grandchildren, William and Isabelle Pretorius, son-in-law, Adam Pretorius (Adrianne) of Iowa City; sisters, Madonna (Craig) Phillips of Missouri Valley, IA and Pam Rubenking (Aaron) of Boone, IA; baby bull dog, Brasco.

Cindi was reunited in death by her parents, and her beloved daughter and best friend Amy Pretorius.
