Emily Katherine Starbuck, 87, formerly of West Branch, died Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Crestview Care Center in West Branch. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Sutliff Bridge.

Emily was born November 28, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa, to parents Elmer and Elsie (Brown) Brant. After graduating from City High, Emily began her career as a histology technician working for the University of Iowa. While she lived in Iowa City Emily was also a co-owner of the Lazy Leopard Bar and Grill. She worked at the University for more than 20 years before relocating to Hawaii. After spending seven years in Hawaii Emily moved to Florida in 1996. She lived there until earlier this year. Emily continued working until retiring in her early seventies.

A very proud mother, Emily thought the world of her daughter Niki and son Robb. She was an artistic person, and she enjoyed painting. She also loved ballroom dancing, the music especially.

Her family includes her daughter, Niki Starbuck; grandchildren, Robb Jr., Tiffany, Ryan, and Kyle; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Peg Stoner and Barb Krall; and her brother, Bill Brant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her son, Robb Starbuck.
