Kathleen Nelson, 76, of Coralville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 28, 2024.

A time to greet the family will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville.

Kathy was born on June 11, 1947 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Clarence and Alice (Stigen) Myhre. After graduating from Spring Grove High School, Kathy worked for a couple of years before meeting Michael Nelson. The couple moved to Iowa and were married on November 14, 1970. To this union, two children were born.

While her children were young, Kathy worked as an in-home daycare provider. As her kids grew and were old enough to attend school, Kathy accepted a job at the Good Shepherd Center for Early Childhood Development. She served over 25 wonderful years there caring for and teaching children.

In her spare time, Kathy loved to read, draw, and watch scary movies. Above all, she enjoyed a good crossword puzzle and spending time with the ones she loved.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Michael; children: Dee (Tim “Big”) Miller and Patrick “Goob” (Tammy) Nelson; grandchildren: Mya and Noah Miller and Harper Nelson and her sister, Valerie Christensen. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Carol, Margie, Pat, Donnie and Keith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
